Weibo Takes TV: China's popular microblogging service Weibo is making a strong play to become a conduit for TV programming in the country. According to data from Kantar Media and CSM Media Research, 70% of new TV series launched in China during H1 2017 were also available on Weibo. In addition, 93% of the country's top 30 TV shows were also available on the Twitter-like platform.

Casting a Spell: Podcasts are increasingly popular in the UK. According to Spotify research cited by Marketing Tech News, 61% of UK adults ages 18 to 44 regularly listen to podcasts, including 21% who do so weekly. Overall, 68% of respondents said they were more likely to listen to a podcast today than they were three years ago.

Huawei Drops Apple: Huawei has been making steady gains among consumers in China. According to new data from FT Confidential Research, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has surpassed Apple for the first time when it comes to the preferred brand among the country's smartphone buyers. Some 31.4% of respondents polled in September said they planned to buy a Huawei smartphone next, compared with 24.2% who expected to purchase an iPhone. Apple's iPhone has steadily been losing share in China, and analysts are split on how the company's new iPhone X model might fare there.
