Key stats you need to know about today

Twitter User Audience Grows: In its Q3 earnings report, Twitter said an error in the way it measured its users had left the company with an overestimate. However, the company also reported that it had 330 million users worldwide in Q3, an uptick of 4 million from the previous quarter. Twitter also said efforts to sell its user data had left it less reliant on advertising revenues and headed for profitability.

Trust Erosion: New research from momondo finds that younger people are generally less trustful than older age groups. According to the global survey, just 36% of 18- to 35-year-olds trust other people. Comparatively, that figure was 40% for 36- to 55-year-olds and 50% among respondents 56 to 65.

Fading Line: Japan-based messaging service Line continues to struggle. According to its latest earnings report for the third quarter, the number of monthly active users (MAUs) in its four key markets—Japan, Taiwan, Thailand and Indonesia—fell to 168 million, down from 169 million the previous quarter. Line continues to face threats from Facebook Messenger and Facebook-owned WhatsApp, the two platforms that are arguably the most dominant worldwide.
