Trump Bump Slump: Twitter said its user base in the second quarter was flat with the previous quarter, which saw increased activity partially thanks to political activity. Monthly users totaled 328 million, flat with Q1, but up 5% from a year earlier. Twitter's most engaged audience, its daily active users, rose 12% over the year-earlier quarter.

Female Ad Fail: A June 2017 survey of UK adults by UM London found that 77% of women and 65% of men thought the way women are portrayed in ads in the UK was very or quite stereotypical. The most common stereotypes cited by women were "bimbo/footballer's wife," "domestic goddess" and "shopaholic."

Piracy Problem: A study of video piracy conducted by Ipsos for Italy's Federation for the Protection of Audiovisual and Multimedia Content (FAPAV) concludes that 39% of the country's population ages 15 and older watched illegally obtained movies or television programs at least once in 2016. One-third of the country did so via digital means, most often using torrent sites. Overall, the study estimates nearly 669 million acts of video piracy took place in Italy last year.
