Facebook was the most common app activity, with 22% of total mobile time going to the Facebook app alone. Twitter got just 1% of mobile time. Other messaging and social apps garnered 14%.

While sessions with messaging and social apps were growing faster than the average across all apps, other categories were making much more significant gains by this metric. The only app category getting fewer sessions than in March 2014 was lifestyle and shopping, which was down 3%. Game app sessions held steady over the period.

eMarketer estimates that the number of smartphone users in Canada will be up 13.1% this year to 20.3 million, while the tablet audience will increase 10.5% to reach 15.1 million.
