UK retail ecommerce sales to hit £60 billion this year

LONDON, UK (April 30, 2015) — Purchases made via mobile devices will account for a rapidly growing share of UK retail ecommerce sales and are expected to contribute to strong growth this year, according to eMarketer’s latest estimates. In 2015, a third of all online sales in the UK will take place via smartphones and tablets; by 2019, that figure will rise to over 40%.

NEW YORK, NY (April 29, 2015) — Mobile ad spending in Mexico will reach $390 million in 2015, an 81.0% increase from 2014, according to new figures from eMarketer. By 2019, mobile ad spending will increase more than fourfold to reach $1.70 billion.

A new eMarketer report, “Mobile Mexico 2015: Ad Spending Now Growing Faster than Usage,” details the country’s mobile ad spending market as well as consumer trends, demographics and mobile usage benchmarks. This is eMarketer’s third annual report on the state of the mobile market in Mexico.

eMarketer: US Adults Spend 5.5 Hours with Video Content Each Day

Digital video viewing adds significant time to the average US consumer’s media day

NEW YORK, NY (April 16, 2015) — Adults in the US will spend an average of 5 hours, 31 minutes watching video each day this year, according to new figures from eMarketer, and digital video viewing across devices is driving growth. In 2011, time spent with video on digital devices—PCs, mobile devices and other connected devices including over-the-top (OTT) and game consoles—totaled 21 minutes daily. This year, US adults will spend an average of 1 hour, 16 minutes each day with video on digital devices.

Meanwhile, the average time US adults spent watching video programming on televisions totaled 4 hours, 35 minutes in 2011 and will decline to 4 hours, 15 minutes in 2015. In total, time spent with video on all devices is up from 4 hours, 56 minutes in 2011.

eMarketer: Social Network Ad Spending to Hit $23.68 Billion Worldwide in 2015

Advertisers in North America spend the most to be social

NEW YORK, NY (April 15, 2015) — Advertisers worldwide will spend $23.68 billion on paid media to reach consumers on social networks this year, according to new figures from eMarketer, a 33.5% increase from 2014. By 2017, social network ad spending will reach $35.98 billion, representing 16.0% of all digital ad spending globally.

Advertisers in the US and Canada place a premium on social media and will ramp up paid spending on social networks 31.0% this year to pass $10 billion for the first time. Social network advertising in Asia-Pacific will total $7.40 billion, with Western Europe the third-largest region at $4.74 billion. The drop-off in spending to the other three major world regions is steep, with Latin America reaching only $680 million in 2015, while Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East and Africa lag further behind.

eMarketer: Mobile Ad Spend to Top $100 Billion Worldwide in 2016, 51% of Digital Market

US and China will account for nearly 62% of global mobile ad spending next year

NEW YORK, NY and LONDON, UK (April 02, 2015) — The global mobile advertising market will hit two significant milestones in 2016, according to new figures from eMarketer, surpassing $100 billion in spending and accounting for more than 50% of all digital ad expenditure for the first time.

The $101.37 billion to be spent on ads served to mobile phones and tablets worldwide next year represents a nearly 430% increase from 2013. Between 2016 and 2019, the last year in our forecast period, mobile ad spending will nearly double, hitting $195.55 billion to account for 70.1% of digital ad spend as well as over one-quarter of total media ad spending globally.
