Quick Stat: Facebook to Reach 132.5 Million Users in the US This Year
eMarketer estimates 132.5 million people in the US will be using Facebook this year; by 2013, that number will increase to 152.1 million.
This growth will be driven primarily by increased Facebook use among older boomers and seniors. At the same time, teens and young adults will continue to form the core of Facebookâs audience, with penetration rates among these groups ranging from 80% to 89% of internet users by 2013.
Um, your numbers are just plain flat wrong.
Your post is two months old, but a year ago, Facebook was reporting 500 million users worldwide, of which 70% are outside the USA. That’s 150 million inside the USA.
And Facebook recently updated that stat to 750 million worldwide, with the same 70% outside the USA. That makes is 225 million in the USA.
And those are “active users”, defined as anyone who has logged on in the last 30 days.
