Does My Company Subscribe?
Small and medium-sized businesses in the UK have more than doubled their advertising and marketing spending in the past two years, according to research from BIA/Kelsey and Ipsos.
The poll of businesses with under 100 employees found that average ad and marketing spending in the 12 months previous was just over £3,000 ($4,838.71). In 2011, spending levels were at a reported £1,406 ($2,267.74).
Over the course of the next year, just over half of respondents reported they expected to maintain spending levels at their current rate, while three in 10 said they planned to increase marketing spend.
The marketing mix had also changed since 2011, with increases reported in marketing use of Facebook, Twitter and pay-per-click advertising.
Use of online classifieds was down by more than half, however, and print classified usage declined even more dramatically.
