Similar reach on social sites
France, well known as home to major luxury conglomerates like LVMH and Kering, is also the country where luxury websites reach the widest share of internet users, according to research.
comScore reported that in August, 17.5% of internet users in France ages 15 and older visited a jewelry, luxury goods or acccessories site during the month, compared with 11.4% of users in the Netherlands and 10.1% in the US and UK.
More than a year earlier, in July 2012, the Syndicat National de la Communication Directe (SNCD) found that a similar share of social media users in France followed luxury brands on social sites, and even more (24%) mobile social media users followed such brands.
Accessories were the most popular category in that study, followed by more than six in 10 social media users and nearly seven in 10 mobile social users.
