The news industry more than quintupled its mobile ad spending in Asia-Pacific in Q1 2014, according to Millennial Media, helping drive total mobile ad spending in Asia-Pacific ever higher. News and real estate, among other industries, also experienced rapid growth in mobile ad spending during the period.
The data only represents spending on Millennial Media's own network, so broader industry metrics may vary. But it indicates rapid, large increases in mobile ad spending across a range of industries.
eMarketer estimates that spending on digital advertising in Asia-Pacific will rise by 17.9% this year to reach $41.4 billion—but that includes spending on all digital channels, including ads served to desktop and laptop PCs, as well as ads served to mobile devices.
Mobile internet ad spending across the region is expected to be up even faster, and will exceed $7.28 billion by the end of this year, we estimate.
