Argentina, home to one of Latin America’s fastest-growing Internet populations, is experiencing an explosion in broadband.
eMarketer estimates that in 2008 over 31% of households in Argentina had some form of broadband connection. In 2013, that figure will nearly double to 61%.

For perspective, eMarketer estimates that in 2008, 61.3% of US households had a broadband connection.
Even in Latin America, in terms of broadband connectivity Argentina still has a way to go before catching Brazil and Mexico, the region’s other economic powerhouses. Brazil had over three times as many high-speed subscriptions as Argentina in Q3 2008, and Mexico had almost twice as many.

A country’s broadband use invariably coincides with the frequency of e-commerce usage.
“Broadband Internet access is an enabler of consumer e-commerce activity,” said Jeffrey Grau, eMarketer senior analyst. “If pages take a long time to load up, a person without broadband access often gets impatient and leaves a retailer’s site without completing a transaction. This happens more often as Web retailers incorporate on their sites the latest rich media applications, such as streaming videos.”
In other words: Follow the broadband, you’ll get to the money.
