Online Daters Find It Tough to Click

An April 2008 Harris Interactive survey conducted on behalf of WooMe identified some problems with online dating and making a first impression on the Internet.

More than 70% of the single US online adults surveyed said flirting online was more difficult than in person.

Being unable to observe body language, gauge chemistry or assess physical appearance were all cited as top factors contributing to the hardship.

More than a quarter of respondents said they were more likely to use an online dating Website if they were able to interact with other users via a Webcam.

"Chemistry is an enigma," said Stephen Stokols, CEO and co-founder of WooMe, in a statement. "There are many factors that go into establishing chemistry, and being able to interact with someone tells you more in 30 seconds than hours of compatibility tests or e-mailing."
