Nearly nine in 10 Internet users spend a minimum of seven hours a week managing their online communications, according to Fuser.
Fuser said that Internet users juggle an increasing number of e-mail and social networking accounts, which take more time to manage.
"The irony is that the majority of these types of communication
mediums were developed to make communications easier and more productive,
yet many Internet users are feeling burdened by the task of managing their
multiple accounts," said Jeff Herman, president of Fuser, in a statement.
Nearly eight in 10 Internet users surveyed said they had two or more e-mail accounts and at least one social networking account. More than four in 10 had at least two social
networking accounts.
Account management is even more involved for young users.
More than nine in ten 18- to 21-year-olds surveyed had two or more e-mail
accounts and at least one social networking account.
Two-thirds of Internet users surveyed said they spent 10 or more hours a week managing their online communications.
