Gourmets Have the Right Web Recipe

Half of Internet users look for food and cooking information online, according to a new study by JupiterResearch.

Most foodies aren't bargain hunting, either.

Instead, people looking for gourmet, organic and "good-for-you" foods are more likely to use food Websites than are those driven by price.

Monique Levy of JupiterResearch noted that food fans typically are looking for the specific information found on food sites, rather than the more general food information found on health and wellness sites.

"Online food lovers use food destination sites and manufacturer sites the most, rather than branded product sites and health- and lifestyle-related Websites," Ms. Levy said.

"This suggests that sites like epicurious.com and foodnetwork.com provide important advertising opportunities and that manufacturers' Websites like kraftfoods.com are smart to invest in their main Website."
